I am what you would call an old-fashioned, conservative girl with a contemporary lifestyle. I believe in the Golden Rule. I believe children want boundaries and thrive in the safety net that we as parents knit for them. Too often parents read parenting books, take parenting classes, and are really great at telling children what they expect from them, but for me parenting is a much bigger picture.
Most moms and dads do the best they can with the tools they have, but the crucial question is: DO YOU DO BETTER WHEN YOU KNOW BETTER?
We are our actions — NOT our words.
I am a single mom who works from home. After a brutal divorce, a vision came to me: to develop something completely new on the worldwide web as we now know it — a start-up community for all children, with internet safety and security as my primary focus. My groundbreaking website, www.deanasview.com, is currently set to launch on February 11, 2009. Yippee!
I am a full-time mother hen, but not a “helicopter mom.” But let’s define “full-time”: it means, above all, being available at any given time to my three children. *See “mother hen” versus “helicopter mom”.
Just as it is not my job as a parent to seek the approval of my children, my blog has nothing to do with me seeking your approval. It’s about remaining true to my vision, being authentic.
At the same time, let’s remember that all of this is an ongoing journey and we’re all in this together! I truly look forward to hearing from you. I promise to stay focused on solutions rather than basking in your trials. And I expect the same from you.
So, welcome aboard and let’s ride the train over the hills and through the woods to “Deana’s View”!
Ciao for now, all you spiders on the worldwide web,
